WordPress Search Engine Spam

March 31st, 2005

In light of the reports of WordPress search engine spamming, I have removed my link to the WordPress web site. The default WordPress theme has a “is proudly powered by WordPress” tag line with a link. I thought proudly was overkill in the first place and certainly not true now, so I have removed both the tag line and the link. While I certainly don’t begrudge open source authors the ability to make money from their efforts, I think this was a disappointing choice of methods.

Come on… put the link back. With a current pagerank of 0/10 they need all the help they can get ;)

I just read about this this morning… I don’t think that I’ll be removing my link.

Let’s wait till Matt gets back from holidays before we grab the pitchforks? There could be more of a reason.
